Beastly

A: She would like you to be yourself.

B: Who? The jerk I was, or this 'me' now?

A: The man I know you to be.

‘Strangers, again’.

I am a huge fan of Wong Fu Productions and for the first time in my life, I felt distant from them while watching this work of theirs. It felt so wrong and so sad. Yes, their new short is supposed to portray the stages of some relationships, 50% into the short, I just had to come write this.

“Whether it’s taking each other for granted or people changing over time, bottom line is: Some one stops trying. And feelings aren’t as strong as before.”

It makes me sad that so many people believe relationships and intimacy are all based on feeling and in turn, just end up more broken than before. I’m reading a book about selfless love. Have you heard of an idea like that? I know most say that’s unheard of. But it talks about how intimacy is actually a by-product of commitment-based love. Commitment may sound daunting, like being tied down, but really, it is a commitment to the highest good of someone you love truly.

From the Bible, God tells us about how love is patient, love is not self seeking, always trusts, always perseveres. Yet intimacy without commitment is self-ish and contradicts all those things. Regardless of whether you believe in God or not, don’t we all want to be loved by someone who loves us that much?

For me, my answer to that is, Yes. It doesn’t take me long to realize I don’t have a big enough heart to love someone to that capacity, but I’ve learnt that in fact, God does have that capacity to love, which is shown by the very fact that we are all alive in this moment. He can also help me change and to be able to truly love selflessly so put this way, that is how I choose God. Because he’s already chosen me.

This is love as defined by God:

A: I have to apologize for my colleague. He's been under slot of pressure lately but, he's a good cop.

B: Heh, I'd hate to see a bad cop.

“When a woman cuts her hair, she’s about to change her life.”

— Coco Avant Chanel

It’s true if it’s a big change for me. This time, not so much. It just so happened that I’m getting a haircut. As John Mayer says, ‘See, you met me at an interesting time’. Or is nothing coincidental? I rather not apply that on this one. Please.
